Here is what God's Word says about receiving eternal life.

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

God's Word tells us that because of the sin of Adam, we are all guilty.  We are all sinners in need of a savior.  God knew man would sin and he completed a plan before He created the world.  Sin was not a surprise to God.  It was an outgrowth of man's free will choice.  God gave man a free will so He could have true fellowship with him.  He didn't create robots in forced obedience.  He wanted man to chose to obey out of love for Him.

Adam's disobedience caused man to be taken prisoner by Satan.  When Adam chose to believe Satan's Word instead of God's Word, he placed himself under Satan's authority.  God had given man authority over the earth.  Therefore, Satan now had control of it.  God is completely just.  Legally God could not use His power to give it back to man.

Because man introduced sin into the world, man would have to get rid of it.  So, God, Himself, took the form of a man by being born of a woman.  His lineage goes all the way back to Adam.  He was a legal representative of man.   In contrast to Adam, He came to live a sinless life, reveal the Word of God, the character of God, and the power of God.  Finally, He voluntarily took the entire sin debt of the world upon himself.  Then He gave His life to pay the ransom and redeem man from his captivity.

As Jesus hung on the cross He said, "It is finished."  The word He actually used was a term used in reference to payment of a debt.  It was a term they stamped onto legal documents during that time.  It is like our modern-day term, 'Paid in Full.'  Jesus said, "Paid in Full."

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Adam's sin placed us in allegiance to Satan.  Jesus' victory over sin gave us a new freedom of choice.  Now there are two side: Jesus or Satan.  You can choose a new allegiance.  But each person must choose for themselves.  How?  Believe it and speak it.

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)

Remember, no choice is a choice -- a choice to remain a prisoner of Satan.

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.'(John 3:36)

Make the right choice now.  Pray this prayer from your heart or put it into your own words:

Lord Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner  Your Word says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  But your Word also says that you loved me so much that you paid the penalty for my sin.  I believe you died for my sins.  I don't want to be a stranger to you anymore.  I want a relationship with you.  I'm asking you to come into my heart right now.  I believe God raised you from the dead to show me that the enemy has been completely defeated.

I thank you, Father, that I can now call you my Father.  I thank you that I now have the assurance of eternal life with you.  My spirit has been reborn!  I am now your child.
